Weight Loss Q&A: SugarBusters

Is it difficult to follow?
Other than getting to know the foods to eat and foods to avoid lists, there are just a few rules to follow on this plan, such as eating fruit alone and always drinking fruit juice before your meal rather than with it.

Skipping meals is not allowed because it affects your blood sugar level. You should always eat three balanced meals a day, as well as healthful, portion-controlled snacks.

There is also a pretty stringent focus on portion control. The authors want you to keep your plate in balanced proportion when dishing up your meal. And, you won’t be eating any second helpings.

Does it work?
Cutting down on sugar and refined flours is a good idea for everybody. Most Americans have way too much sugar in their diets. By cutting out all these forms of sugar, you are virtually guaranteed to lose weight.

The authors don’t make those promises about how much weight you’ll lose in the first 14 days (or in the long-run) like many other diets, so don’t expect quick results. But if you eat this way, and stick with it, it will work. (Keep in mind anything from .5 to 2 pounds lost a week is healthy and can be maintained more easily.)
